What’s in this group

Personal care sounds recreate someone looking after you: cleaning your ears, washing your hair, giving you a shave.

  • Ear cleaning: Light Picking, Intense Picking, Cotton Swabs, Tissue Clean, Powder Sponge, Ear Helicopter and Eardrum Pulse
  • Massage: Ear Massage and Head Massage
  • Barber and bathroom: Hair Wash, Shaving Cream, Razor, Scissor, Bath Bombs
  • Body sounds: Heartbeat, Heart and Stomach

Ear cleaning is one of the biggest ASMR genres in Japan, Korea and China, where it is often called by its Japanese name, mimi-kaki. The Light and Intense Picking tracks are a good way to find out which pace suits you.

Why personal attention works

Personal attention is the most popular kind of ASMR video, and there’s an emerging explanation for why. Flockton, Preston and McCall proposed in 2025 that sounds this close make the brain expect gentle touch, and that expectation is what calms you. In plain terms, the tingles may be your nervous system getting ready to be touched. It is a hypothesis, not a settled fact, and the triggers guide sets out the evidence for it so far.

The body sounds work differently. Heartbeat and Stomach aren’t “attention” triggers. They are close, slow and steady, and many people find them grounding to fall asleep to.

How to use personal care sounds

  • For sleep: Ear Massage and Head Massage are slow and even. The app’s Ear Massage mix pairs Ear Massage with Tissue Clean.
  • For tingles: the Eardrum Triggers mix layers Cotton Swabs with Light and Intense Picking, and Eardrum Helicopter puts the Ear Helicopter sound over a crackling fire and wind.
  • For a spa session: Calm Waters Spa combines Bath Bombs, Hair Wash and a candle with a slow ear eating track.
  • Close relatives: brushing and the breathing tracks in mouth sounds.
