Sleep Mode: Fall Asleep to ASMR Without Leaving It Playing All Night
Sleep Mode in Tingles ASMR fades out mixes, playlists, videos and podcasts over 30 seconds, then stops. Here's how to set and change it.
Sleep Mode is a timer that lets you drift off without the app playing until morning. When the time is up, the volume fades out over the last 30 seconds and playback stops. It is part of Tingles ASMR Premium.
Where to find it
Sleep Mode is the Sleep Mode button at the right end of the top bar. It is on every player in the app:
- premade and custom mixes
- sound playlists
- ASMR videos and your Watch Later queue
- podcast episodes
Starting a timer
- Open whatever you want to fall asleep to and tap Sleep Mode.
- Pick a time: 15 min, 30 min, 45 min, 1 hr or 2 hr. On a video you can also pick End of video, and on a podcast End of episode. Custom gives you a slider from 5 minutes to 3 hours.
- Tap Start. Picking a time on its own doesn’t start anything, so you can change your mind.
While the timer runs, the button turns into a countdown (“28 min”), and your lock screen shows how many minutes are left. The time you pick becomes the default for next time. You can also set the default in Settings → Playback → Sleep Mode.
To change or cancel the timer, tap the countdown. You’ll see the time left, Restart with a different time, and Stop. Tapping the countdown never cancels it by accident.
Sleep Mode on a video
YouTube videos normally need the screen on. When you start Sleep Mode on a video, Tingles ASMR switches to Lights Off: the video keeps going as audio, so you can lock your phone. Tap Stop and the video comes back where it was.
With Up Next turned on, the next video from the same artist keeps playing as audio while the phone is locked. In your Watch Later queue, the queue keeps going in order, with previous and next on the lock screen.
Lights Off can’t play live streams, age-restricted videos or members-only videos. Up Next skips over those.
Without Premium
Mixes have a free Set Timer button next to Smart Mix. Pick 15 min, 30 min, 1 hour, 2 hours or Custom, then tap Start. The mix pauses when time runs out. It stops straight away rather than fading out, and it only works on mixes.
If the sound stops early on Android
If the audio cuts out before the timer ends, your phone’s battery saving is usually putting the app to sleep; Sound stops when the screen turns off has the fix.
Bedtime reminder
If you’d like a nudge to wind down, Tingles ASMR can send one notification each night. It’s free. Go to Settings → Customize and turn on Bedtime reminder. Pick 9:00 PM, 10:00 PM, 11:00 PM or a custom time, and tap Turn on. Times show in your phone’s clock format, so a 24-hour phone shows 21:00. Tapping the notification opens the app. On Android it arrives close to the time you chose rather than to the minute.
